Jonah Spungin

Jonah Spungin is a Canadian baritone with “tremendous placement of voice and timbre” (Le Devoir). A member of the Canadian Opera Company's Ensemble Studio, he recently made his COC debut as Marco (Gianni Schicchi), and will return to the stage with them as Second Priest (Die Zauberflöte) and Marchese d'Obigny (La Traviata). He will also create the role of John/Fantasma in their world premiere of Fantasma by Ian Cusson. The Summer of 2022 will see Jonah making his European debut, singing the role of Jan Nyman (Breaking the Waves) with Vadstena-Akademien in Sweden. Before joining the Ensemble Studio at the COC, Jonah was an Emerging Artist at Calgary Opera, where he sang such roles as Marullo (Rigoletto), King Melchior (Amahl and the Night Visitors), Paris (Roméo et Juliette), and Mike
